Been a while...

Didn't realize how long it had been since I posted, but that's what happens when life gets in the way.

I finished a few more card projects...or...just one big one. Depends on how you look at it, I guess. I've been trying to get a monogrammed notecard set (using JustRite Stampers which ROCK!) completed for my sister (who's been patiently waiting for her DVD's of Dancing With the Stars...I don't watch it, just record it). Well, I just finished it today. Yay, me! Just can't believe how long these things take me. :/ I did an odd set of 7 cards since I was going to do 6, then changed it to 8, when I decided upon 8...the 8th one fell apart. So it became 7.

I also did a card for my sis using a cartoon strip that my mom sent me spoofing DWTS from Bizarro. It's pretty weird, but funny. She'll "get" it.

I'll post the pics tomorrow since I'm too tired to do it now and I want to watch the American Idol auditions. hahhahahaa! :D

Tomorrow I spend 3 hours learning more stamping and creative techniques with Mary. I can't wait. I need the help to get more motivated and be more organized when it comes to my cards. That's one place I feel so messy. Hate it.

So pics tomorrow!

Listening Party - RUSH...oh yeah!

Had a great time chatting with some friends last night on a messageboard I belong to. I'm a HUGE Rush fan (music, not the radio talk show weirdo - ugh! - for those of you not in the know) and we try to get together on the occasional Sunday to listen to some Rush and chat.

It was a small group, but fun. A great playlist was put together by GhostWorks (no name...just GhostWorks, hahhaha!) and we listened to the music and talked about nothing and everything.

So today is my shout-out to: Mary, Beth, Justin, Leon, Jim, GW, and anyone else I'm missing. Eddy was on the sidelines, too, just not signed in. Ha!

Always a good time, my friends. And thanks for looking at my cards and for the opinions and comments. I appreciate the input. You all ROCK! \m/

Birthday Cards

I almost forgot to post the cards that I made on the 14th. This one was made for my honey's 40th birthday:

This one was for my friends birthday back in NV:

and this one was for my boyfriend's niece, who (obviously) is turning 11:

Hope you like them.

Thank you Blog Doctor!

After several hours e-mailing back and forth, my blog is finally looking like it's supposed to. And it even has a spiffy new template. I couldn't have done any of this myself, the Blog Doctor came to my rescue! Talk about saving the day...he jumped right in (feet first) and just tackled one issue after the next. I have nothing but praise for the Blog Doctor. Thank you, thank you, thank you! If you should ever need help for your blog, visit his site. The button to take you there, is over there on the right side of the page somewhere ------> OR here's the link: The Blog Doctor

Maybe later on today I'll even post those birthday cards I made earlier in the week. Yay!

Where's help when you need it?

So, yeah. I contacted someone the other day about getting some assistance for my fledgling little blog but I haven't heard anything back. WAAHHH! Geez. I know people are busy and all and there are many people who want help. I just keep thinking my issue can't be rocket science, it's just that I don't know how to fix it. See...I'm not a rocket science nor do I play one on TV.

I contacted another Blogger "guru" today via e-mail. I hope that I'll hear something back from them sometime in the not-so-distant future. I really want to keep putting up pics of my projects and stuff, but I'm fearful that the more I do...well, that it'll eventually just wind up being deleted.

I made 3 really nice birthday cards. 1 for my honey, 1 for my friend who told me all about SU! back in NV, and 1 for one of my honey's nieces. I think I'm getting better at the stuff. Woo-hoo! I'll post pics soon. Maybe once I know what's up with the blog?

In the meantime, I added a new "feature"... a link via a button/blinky to the "Hands, Head and Heart" blog. Really a great blog. Says, "I (heart) Melanie's Stamps " very cute.

Anyway...hope I hear back from this blogging expert person soon.

Hope...

I contacted someone about getting my blog fixed. I'm getting really bummed that the labels for the blog itself is in the wrong area, that the date & time for the post doesn't show and that people can't comment...even if someone DID read this. Very frustrated. I know I caused this myself by trying to download a new template, but it should be fixable. I don't understand why it's not.

So. Now I hope that this person contacts me back and I can find out whether there is hope for my little blog.

Stamp Club...5 cards!

Stamp Club was great today!! I made 5 cards!! 2 were the ones that were planned and 3 others were after club and were for friends that I just wanted to make special cards for. Mary is always so awesome about that. The cards that we worked on today really provided me with some inspiration to do 2 special cards for the friends of my mom's who are struggling with illness right now. I sure hope they like them. The other (extra) card I made is for a friend who just lost her mom on Christmas Day. Ugh...can you imagine?

So, anyway, these are the cards that I made:

(The above is the inside of the second card)

The above was the Stamp Club inspiration for the two additional cards that I made. This set was made using Summer by the Sea, Warm Words and the Canvas background. (The Canvas background and Summer By the Sea are retiring as of the Jan.18th!!)

I should have asked what stamp set I used for this, but I didn't. I'm awful. I think it's retired, though. I used Warm Words on the outside, though.

The above card also uses 2 stamps which are now on Stampin' Up's retired list which are awesome, With Gratitude and Wonderful Words...both great sets. Don't forget, get them before Jan. 18th before it's too late.

So, I hope you like them. I had a great time making them and I can't wait to send them out.

Stamp Club Tomorrow...& updates...grrr...

I forgot to mention since I was caught up in posting my first picture that I'm so stoked to be attending Stamp Club tomorrow at my Stampin' Up demonstrators house. I can't wait!! After making all those cards for Christmas I got a bit burned out, but I'm ready to get motivated again.

I need to get some ideas for some pick-me-up cards for some dear friends of my moms. Both of whom are in poor health. So, I'm looking forward to the club for many reasons. To get me out of the house, get me re-motivated, and give me inspiration for some lovely women who need it. Looking forward to seeing Mary and the other Friday Stamp Club gals. YAY!

In other news today: I've been trying to update the layout/template of my blog all day today. Grrr. I wanted to change it, but apparently I can't. At least not right now. What a bummer. And I don't know anything about this kind of stuff. Hopefully soon.

Here's a plug for Mary: Mary's Stampin' Up! Website

Posting a Pic

Just thought I'd show a little sumthin'-sumthin' of what I attempt to do with my time. This was my Christmas card this year. I had a lot of fun designing it.

I used my Cuttlebug for the embossed background, to cut out the square, AND to emboss the snowman. (Love my Cuttlebug!) The paper is SU Real Red and the glitter on the snowflake is SU Dazzling Diamonds (the best glitter). The snowflake punch is one of Martha Stewart's (which I got at Michael's for 40% off). I also used Stickles by Ranger, SU Stampin' Pastels, and ribbon from Michaels to embellish.

Ceremonial First Post

Well. Here I am in the world of bloggers (Yay me, right?). Not sure that anyone will be interested in what I have to offer, but I do want a place to call "home" for the cards and other things that I have started to create.

I'm new at all this crafty stuff. Particularly at card-making. But I really dig it. I found that I was spending a small fortune at Hallmark and Papyrus to buy the kinds of cards I wanted for the people I cared about. I was just spending way, way too much moolah and thought to myself, "Self, you can probably do this! You have a crafty side!"

So once I moved to Californ-i-ay to be with my stud-muffin boyfriend (he's so gonna kill me when he reads that...ha! - OR he'll looove it!) I decided to look more into how to take on this crafty feat of making cards. I contacted one of my crafty friends back in my home state of Nevada and asked her, "Uhhh..hey...I wanna make cards. What do I do?" Of course she thought I was a bit silly, like, I should just know, y'know? But she gave me some great advice..."Have you looked into Stampin' Up?" I had no clue what or who they were...but my journey had just begun.

I'll be posting pics and stuff of some of my creations. This is fun for me...all this crafty crap. ;) I can't promise to post something everyday or anything like that. But I hope that this will spur on my creative-flow.

Now I just need to figure out how to work this place called the Blogosphere! Wish me luck...yikes!
