Let It Sew - Jingle Belles #23
So we meet again? Yes, another week with my pals the Jingle Belles. :)
This weeks challenge is: Let It Sew, Let It Sew, Let It Sew. And yes, the challenge is sewing..."incorporating sewing into our holiday cards; whether that be in the form of hand-stitching, via sewing machine, or even by using a pen, a stamp, or some rub-ons to add some faux stitching. anything goes!"
As much as I love the look of sewing on my cards, I don't do it very often (maybe once a year?). My sewing machine is just a teeny little thing and is quite temperamental. Most days it doesn't work. :( So I was worried about this challenge. I wound up doing a combo of hand-stitching AND machine sewing.
I also wanted to keep a kind of monochromatic look. Hope I achieved that.
The vellum puffed a little as I used the sewing machine, but I can't complain too much. At least it didn't break down on me! ;)

Paper: Cardstock - Night of Navy (Stampin' Up), Patterned paper - Figgy Pudding (Basic Grey), Shimmer Vellum (Paper Temptress)
Ink: Distress Embossing Ink (Ranger)
Stamps: Wondrous Gift (Stampin' Up)
Embossing: Silver Super Fine Detail EP (Ranger)
Accessories: Ribbon (stash), Label Maker (Dymo), Thread (Coats)}

SOS #3 - UFO's
UFO's?!?! Unfinished objects, my friends. NOT aliens. ;)
That's the challenge for this week over at Shopping Our Stash. Do you have unfinished projects, stamping, pieces of parts laying around that you had every intention of finishing or doing something with, but you just kinda put it aside? Then this will be the perfect challenge for YOU!
I will say that when I create something, it's usually with purpose. So I don't really have a lot of those "pieces of parts" I was talking about. Most stampers/crafters have some kind of pile they keep these things in...not me. I just don't have stuff like that. If it's too small for me to re-use I just toss in my recycle bin. Sounds wasteful, but I'd rather get rid of it then keep a pile I *know* I won't use. Is that weird?
Anyway, one of the Un-Finished Objects I DID find was some teeny canvases I had purchased after attending a Tim Holtz workshop. I had even gessoed 3 of them. Have absolutely NO clue what I had intended to use them for, though. Got as far as the gesso and then promptly forgot about them...until now.
I decided I'd use those 3 little canvases and make a triptych. Had a blast making it, too!
Isn't that fun? I just painted them each in a different color paint (since they were already gessoed) and then got a HUGE foam stamp, lined them up, and stamped with paint on top of all 3. Added my fancy label-maker sentiment and other small accessories and... VOILA! The hardest part of the whole thing was the eye-hooks and jump-rings. I hand-painted those to match with a black Copic marker. Give a triptych a try sometime. These are fun AND easy to make.

Paint: Quinacridone magenta, Phthalo blue - red shade, Hansa yellow medium (Golden), Pearl acrylic paint (Adirondack)
Stamps: Flower foam stamp (Donna Downey)
Accessories: Metal corners, film strip ribbon, jump-rings (Tim Holtz for Ideaology), label maker (Dymo), eye hooks (Darice), black Copic Marker (.Too)}

COMING SOON!!!
I'm super excited that my website is juuuuust about done! I couldn't be happier.
My awesome web designer, Sarah, has been working her rear-end off and has been really patient with me and my lack of all things wordy (I have a tough time talking about ME!...ugh).
Just over FOUR DAYS to go!!!! wow. Someone pinch me. ;)
So here's the deal. My blog IS being moved. It's being moved to the website:
PAPERGRACE.COM (go look!)
And, I will no longer be blogging from Blogger, but from WordPress. I hope that you'll all stay tuned and update your readers, and how you follow me with the new address. WHEN I get the feed address I will post it so that you know how to update, etc. Seriously, it would bum me out if my dear bloggy friends didn't know how to continue following or reading my blog. :(
I'll probably have one more post here...THEN it'll all be the new site. :)
So go check out the under construction page and watch with me as I count down to the new site. Should be fun!
PS - There may be some down time initially here & there, so please be patient (especially the day of the move...I'll probably be down completely! Keep your eyes on the website & the countdown clock).
