I call Southern Nevada home. The suburbs of Las Vegas. I am, and will always proclaim myself, a desert rat. I miss seeing the first snow fall to hit the Sheep Mountains...knowing the likelihood of it getting to us in the Valley would be very slim. (No shoveling for us! Yay!) I miss the temperatures hitting the 30's at night and 60 during the day. Brrr.... Heh. Don't be a hater. :) But, seriously..I miss my family. We are a VERY small, tight-knit little group. And I miss them with all my heart. And, they are there. So, gathering with my mom and pops for any reason is always a blessing. (My sis moved to Germany when she was in the military and has stayed on. I don't get to see her often enough. Boo! )
I really wanted my card to represent what I love about Nevada. So I took a little print my mom gave me by a local artist named Mark Vranesh and I scanned it. This little piece of work shows the beautiful red rocks, mountains, blue skies, bottle brush, and petroglyphs. I added some Frosted Lace Stickles to the scanned piece and gave my mountain-tops some snow. :) And, hey! What is Las Vegas without a little glitz, right? So, my rhinestone bling on a vellum circle gives us the date of Christmas.

I hope that the next time any of you find yourselves on a trip to Vegas, please don't spend too much time on the Strip. Get out and see the beautiful desert. It's sooo amazing! And heck, let me know you're going! I'll be your tour guide!! :D
{Supplies:
Paper: Cardstock, Vellum Cardstock (SU)
Print: Mark Vranesh
Accessories: Liquid Applique (Marvy), Frosted Lace Stickles (Ranger), Circle Punch, Linen Thread, Satin Ribbon (SU), "25" Rhinestone (Mark Richards) }
All my best,

I only use Vegas as a place to land when I go to Kanab Utah.
The beauty is in the mountains and desert and the bluest blue skies and the brightest stars at night.
I could go on but this is supposed to be a comment not a post....
Oh and your card...I bet Mark never thought his painting would look so good.
What wonderful memories of home & family ... my family is all much too far away as well ... the time I get to spend with them is cherished ... love that blingy date ... thanks so much for joining our jingle belles fun.
Lisa, I Love it! I love the desert, the glitz, and that your Mom even had her hand in on this one (little did she know when she sent you the print). All things that mean HOME to you. Beautiful!
What a great card - your only problem now is who will get it - maybe it should be for yourself. The only time I've been to Nevada is skiing at Tahoe where you can cross the street to switch from California to Nevada and you look out over the desert from the top of Heavenly. Wonderful.

love your post...great card...chuckled at the bling comment.
What a wonderful post! I love that you scanned the print to make the card. If I ever get to Vegas (and that's a big IF), all I want to see is the desert and the outlying areas. No glitz for me! I'd LOVE to have you give me the tour!!!
very cool. love the use of the scanned image. possibly make another and send to artist?

thanks for making such a heart touching card for my prompt :)
WOW WOW WOW your card is breathtaking! TFS!
Terrific card Lisa! This is such an AWESOME representation of the desert! I have to laugh every time you say "desert rat" because I NEVER heard that term until my husband got stationed in 29 Palms CA, just a few hrs drive from Vegas. We spent 3 yrs living in the desert('95-'98) and I must say, I'll be happy to let you have it ;) I'm just not a sun, or heat, or sand person,LOL. My dad however LOVED LOVED LOVED the desert and made several visits to us while we were out there!
Fab card, love the image and the blingy 25.xxx
Fabulous super duper card! Love how you brought it "Home" to us. Gorgeous painting, too!
Terrific idea to use the local art, it works beautifully for a great card (and yes, always room for bling)!
What a great idea. I love that you scanned a piece of art.
Gorgeous card :-)
Oh, Lisa, this is just gorgeous. I love that you scanned the artwork and your special touches that you added. Gotta agree with a previous poster, say make another and send it to the artist!
I'd love to visit the NV desert and have you be my guide. And I'd love for you to visit the mountains of NC and gaze upon the tall, skinny trees... You know how I love 'em!
